Citrus (Gioconda Pieracci)

Citrus is inspired by traditional Italian ceramics, in particular the Albarello — a hand-painted majolica jar historically used in apothecaries to store medicinal herbs and compounds. I was especially drawn to the ones from the 16th century. As the daughter of a pharmacist and herbalist, I grew up surrounded by these large hand-painted jars, proudly displayed in my father’s pharmacy. I imagined a scene in which these ancient vessels come to life, each one with its own personality.
