The Latin phrase “SOLVE ET COAGULA” translates to “dissolve and coagulate” in English and is one of the essential steps in traditional Western Alchemy.

The SOLVE/Dissolving step involves the breaking down of the substance in order to remove the unwanted and unnecessary components. Proceeding in the following step of Coagulation, is the rebuilding of the substance in a more pure form. In spiritual alchemy, this process would be reflective on the practitioners soul and spiritual rebirth.

Alchemy has also transformed over the ages as its methods have been shared through numerous cultures, while its approach and process have both reflected the culture of its time as well as influenced the contemporary forms of devotional spiritual, artistic, and scientific practice.
